“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”
Carl R. Rogers
Welcome
At times it can seem as if we are stuck. All of us may feel that life seems overwhelming. We may feel as if we have lost direction in life, or lost a sense of ourselves. This may be in relation to our working life, our relationships, or in a deeper spiritual sense. We might feel trapped in old behaviour patterns, and we may wonder if there is another way.
Experiencing difficulties in life is part of being human. Mostly, we can deal with these on our own, or with the support of family and friends. But sometimes it might not feel right to seek support from our friends and family. We might feel that they don’t understand or are not able to listen.
There are times when it can feel too difficult to cope with life’s issues alone. It can be frightening to look within ourselves, or to follow our inner calling. I believe that we hold our own solutions and answers, but we may need a safe, quiet place to discover them.
This is how counselling provides a safe, non-judgemental space where you can work through your difficulties and concerns. By understanding yourself more fully, you can work towards self-fulfillment and gain a deep awareness of who you are.
